Alfa Laval has acquired LiftUP, a Norwegian supplier of waste extraction systems for fish farms.
Located exterior Bergen on the west coast of Norway, LiftUP manufactures, sells and installs pumps and cleaning gear for the removal of useless fish, waste and sludge from open fish cages. The compressed waste is stored in tanks which are shipped to a biogas facility, where it’s transformed to renewable power and a high-grade fertilizer.

LiftUP, which had revenues of NOK75 million in 2020, will now be a half of Alfa Laval’s Pumping Systems business unit within the Marine Division.
“This acquisition is a priceless addition to our sustainable aquaculture portfolio, expanding our offering of fish farming solutions that increases each the productiveness and economic attractiveness of fish farming solutions while decreasing its influence on the setting,” said Sameer Kalra, president of Alfa Laval’s Marine Division.
