A main Kenyan warehouse and logistics service provider Cold Solutions, says it’s going to invest USD 70 million to construct the most important chilly chain facility in East Africa to address challenges that face transportation of perishable items.
Cold Solution’s 15,000 sqm flagship facility in Tatu City Special Economic Zone in Nairobi would be the largest, most superior and environment friendly within the area. The cold chain facility is flexibly designed to cater for numerous temperature ranges from +26 to -40 C and a quantity of product ranges, from contemporary fruit and vegetables, to prescribed drugs and vaccines, meats and poultry, and frozen meals.
Cold Solutions Kenya is a portfolio firm of ARCH Cold Chain Solutions East Africa Fund, a private fairness fund suggested by ARCH Emerging Markets Partners Limited (ARCH).
“Cold Solutions’ one-stop-shops are designed to allow businesses to keep track of merchandise in real-time and facilitate transportation across East Africa by way of temperature-controlled trucks, both within the internal city or to long-haul locations,” said Jared Irving, Managing Director, ARCH.
