Earlier this month, unit 5 efficiently passed a 15-day trial operation and was officially put into industrial operation. It is the world’s first reversible pumped storage unit with a rated pace of 600 r/min and a capacity of 350 MW. There are six items installed in whole at the 2.1 GW Changlongshan station positioned in Zhejiang Province.
Voith says that the efficiency of unit 5 acquired outstanding feedback from the house owners and experts within the industry.
“The data showed that the unit meets our excellence criteria and thereby proves that the engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of the world’s first 600 r/min with 350 MW unit was profitable,” mentioned Zhang Chengping, mechanical and electrical chief engineer at plant operator the China Three Gorges Group (CTG).
